Tony Hill first arrived in Port Melbourne over 25 years ago as a junior solicitor at McCluskys Lawyers in Bay Street.
A sleepy little village back then, the area has experienced amazing business and residential growth and is now considered one of the premier commercial and residential precincts in Melbourne. Much of which can be attributed to the hard work, commitment and passion of Tony Hill.
As the former president of the Port Melbourne Festival, former president of the Port Melbourne Business Association and Bay Street Committee of Management, and current president of the Port Phillip Business Association (PPBA), Tony has shown an extraordinary commitment to the vision and development of Port Melbourne.
Back in the 1980’s Tony was instrumental in forming the Port Melbourne Business Association committed to revival of Bay Street. This included the establishment of the Port Melbourne Festival. For five years Tony was president.
As the inaugural president of the Port Melbourne Business Association, Tony had his work cut out for him. During the early 90s, throughout the period of council amalgamations, Tony was a strong advocate for all businesses in Port Melbourne and worked hard in establishing the very first special rate for marketing and promotion in Port Phillip.
