Existing Permits

Amendments to an Existing Permit

An Amendment to an existing permit includes:

  • changing furniture design,

  • adding furniture (tables, chairs, screens, umbrellas, standalone heaters),

  • increasing advertising,

  • adding an Advertising sign or Display of Goods

An upfront $50 amendment fee applies with your application (pdf/0.3mb).  Once this has been submitted to council, you will be notified of the decision and an invoice will be forwarded to you for the additional items.

Transfer of Ownership

Footpath Trading Permits are not transferable from one premises to another.

A new business owner must transfer the existing permit into their name and submit a copy of their public liability insurance for that business. Please note that permits will be reassessed to ensure that compliance is maintained with the Footpath Trading Guidelines and Local Law No 7.

An upfront $50 transfer fee applies with your application (pdf/0.3mb).  Once this has been submitted to council together with your public liability insurance for $10M a new permit will be forwarded to the new business owner.

Renewal of an Existing Permit

Footpath Trading permits are renewed every year and are valid from 1st July - 30th June of every year.

A renewal notice is issued to all existing permit holders in mid May.

The permit holder is responsibly on ensuring that all renewal notices are paid and forwarded to council by the 30th June together with a current copy of their public liability insurance.

Failure to provide all renewal documentation and fees will result in the cancellation of the permit.
